On June 15, 2017, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry of India launched an anti-dumping investigation on high tenacity polyester yarn originating from or imported from China. On July 9, 2018, the Indian Ministry of Finance issued Circular No. 3 5/2018-Customs (ADD), which decided to impose an anti-dumping duty of US$0-528/ metric ton on Chinese products, valid for five years until July 8, 2023. On July 27, 2022, the Indian Ministry of Commerce and Industry announced that it would launch an anti-circumvention investigation into high tenacity polyester yarn originating from or imported from China on the application submitted by Reliance Industries Limited, a domestic company, to examine whether the products involved had changed their description, name or composition to evade anti-dumping duties. On September 30, 2022, the Indian Ministry of Commerce and Industry announced that it would launch the first anti-dumping sunset review investigation on high tenacity polyester yarn originating from or imported from China on the application submitted by the Indian domestic company Reliance Industries Limited. The products involved are also called polyester industrial yarn (PIY) or industrial yarn (IDY). The following products are not included in this survey: yarns less than 1000 denier, yarns greater than 6000 denier, twist, colored yarns, adhesive reactive yarns greater than 1000 denier and yarns with high modulus and low shrinkage (HMLS) properties.
