LONDON – Denim brand Levi’s is the latest company to join the US Cotton Trust Protocol, as it doubles down efforts towards its commitment of sourcing 100 per cent more sustainably grown cotton.
Launched to verify sustainability progress through data collection and third-party cooperation, the protocol aligns brands and growers of US cotton in best measuring their impacts across six areas: water use, greenhouse gas emissions, energy use, soil carbon, soil loss and land use efficiency.
“At Levi’s, the quality and sustainability of the cotton we use is critical to our business and important to our customers,” said Jeffrey Hogue, the brand’s chief sustainability officer. “Membership in the US Cotton Trust Protocol will be an important step and a key partnership.”
