Note: Over 30 enterprises are surveyed, covering 55% of cotton yarn imports.
Due to Spring Festival holiday, the feedback from L/C issuers and traders differed a lot. About 23% of traders thought the arrivals in Feb would be higher than in Jan.
3. Feb arrivals of imported cotton yarn assessment
According to overseas shipments in Jan, arrivals of imported cotton yarn in Feb will be large. The major origins are predicted to be Vietnam (69kt), India (29kt), Pakistan (24kt), Indonesia (8kt), Uzbekistan (9kt) and Taiwan (8kt). Those from other regions and countries are assessed at 11kt. Arrivals of Indian cotton yarn will increase.
4. Imported yarn inventory and supply and demand in Mar
Sales of traders performed well after Spring Festival holiday and the inventory of traders did not move up quickly. But with intensive arrivals, the inventory has started to accumulate. In terms of ordering mood, Mar-Apr arrivals of imported cotton yarn will be considerable and the supply by then will keep adequate. With good profit, most traders focus on selling and the price of imported cotton yarn is hard to move up. As for demand side, downstream fabric plants struggle with forward orders, so traders still face a certain selling pressure.
