GELEEN – Material sciences firm Royal DSM has partnered with clean-tech company Clariter to undertake tests which will examine whether its Dyneema brand of fibre – said to be 15 times stronger than steel on a weight for weight basis – can be successfully recycled at scale using the latter’s chemical recycling solution.
Dyneema, an ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) fibre, is lauded for its tensile strength and durability, and is commonly used in industrial applications such as for ropes, as well as within outdoor and protective apparel.
