An index report on the industrial sustainability of Asia-Pacific cities was released on Wednesday

An index report on the industrial sustainability of Asia-Pacific cities was released on Wednesday in Beijing jointly by the Center for Industrial Development and Environmental Governance of Tsinghua University and the APEC China Business Council.

The index report was the first of its kind in the world. It showed that Tokyo ranked first among the cities reviewed, followed by Beijing. Shenzhen in Guangdong province, Hong Kong and Shanghai also made it into the top 10.

While sustainability is prioritized in many economies' development agendas, the index report reviews the industrial sustainability of Asia-Pacific cities from five dimensions--- production factors input for industrial development, resource and environmental pressure, industrial development status, ecological and social impact, and government and policy response.
